IDW Publishing, Wondaland Stories, and Saturday AM sponsor the very first Black Girl Book Fair!

As we reflect on our first year in the virtual book fair business, we’re taking a walk down memory lane—and highlighting the publishers who joined us during our very first fair!

First up, the iconic IDW Publishing donated giveaway prizes for ticket holders! Each attendee was entered a raffle to win comics written by Black comic book writers, including Stephanie Williams, Jacque Aye, and Che Grayson.

Diverse comic publisher Saturday AM joined us as creative collaborators, supplying each attendee with virtual goodie bags jam-packed with free prose and manga.

And Janelle Monae’s creative hub Wondaland Arts Society took part in the fair [via speaker and author Chuck Lightning] and donated free comics and books for our prize raffle!

Thank you to our sponsors for supporting Black authors who are often pushed to the margins and for helping the virtual Black Girl Book Fair make a difference! We were able to reach over 8,500 readers during our very first fair!

Concepted by Jacque Aye (author of How to Be a Better Adult, Monster High: New Scaremester, and Monster High: World’s Scare), the Black Girl Book Fair is a one-day virtual book fair—for adults!

Similar to the book fairs of our youth, the Black Girl Book Fair features a clickable catalogue of books + merch, giveaways from bookish brands, and a fun live chat with both popular and up-and-coming Black indie authors!
